Concept
The planned low-cost housing project is set in a green area of Berlin Lichtenberg. Of course, the distance space to the biotope and the neighbouring building shall be maintained at any time by according to construction regulation.
The clients wish was to create a building with small, affordable apartments for rent (mostly to students).
Having that in mind we designed a building that consists only of 30 m2, but frankly structured apartments that are two-side orientated and have a balcony. Large green areas surrounding the building ensure a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and a lot of space for sports and recreation. Further more, each apartment at ground level is enhanced by a terrace.
The building is entirely built from affordable materials in order to minimize the building costs. The façades are simple and consist of base volume and top, neutral volume of two similarly combined floor-areas, which gives the façade’s arrangement a more unconstrained appearance.
