Due to the sustainable ecology reasons, the cubature should be compact preferably. The compactness is achieved through the direct connection to the existing hall and the conversion of itself at the very spot. The new building structure connects with the main school building. The parapet height of the interface between the existing and the new attachment is inherited, so that the windows of the main school building are not obstructed. Then the need for a clear height of 7,00 m in the multi-purpose hall is met, and the OKFFB (top edge of the finished floor) of the foyer/ hall level is lowered at 1.04 m, thus simultaneously improving the access of disabled persons.
Inside the building, over the foyer and through 3 doors, there is a theatre-concert-event access for 1,296 visitors. A sport-event access for 382 visitors to the telescopic stages is over one staircase on the east side, and a sport-hall user access is over one staircase on the west side. Sport for the disabled access is made possible through the elevator in the foyer, which is also the outdoor footwear access. The gym footwear access can be found on the side facing the hall. From the main school building, the multi-purpose hall can be accessed through the existing gym hall.
The cubature of the architecture orients to its direct function of a sport hall. Instead of the sole use of the two separate halls, the integration of one 1-field and one new 2-field sport hall, which enables the use of handball and football in the hall, and one separate 3-field sports hall with a clearance of 7.00 m all the way through and sprung-floor in accordance with DIN V 18032-2:2001-04 serve their purposes well. The visualization of the internal function, for example, the sport activity (speed) can be viewed on the façade with the projection of the motion-striped outline, just like the observation of the outside on a moving train, by the shade-sword-construction on a transparent glass façade. In this way, the hallway will be in shade during the short sun heat loading. Longer sun heat loading is shielded off by the transparent sun shield inbuilt in the roof overhang. In the multi-purpose hall, the striped outline is carried through on the ceiling and represented by the striped paving in landscaping in the outdoor area.
The ceiling of the multi-purpose hall is structured in such a way that the 4 northern-oriented skylights will deliver the glare-free daylight and smoke exaction. In between these skylights axes, 4 artificial-light-skylights with satin-finish glass panels are installed. These panels are hemmed from the same-sized acoustic panels. The solid parts of the façade are disguised with veneer plywood and this homogenizes the zone of the existing and the new façades.
